The 'Stay Alive' feature on this decoder means the decoder will retain power for a brief period of time if the locomotive hits a part of the track where the DCC signal is lost. For example, a dirty patch of track or a gap in the rails. This prevents the locomotive from stopping or stuttering in this scenario, and therefore improves running.
